West of Scotland Cup

Round 2

Inverclyde AFC v Blackstoun united AFC

6-1

K.O. 2pm Played at Battery Park Greenock Referee Jim Balantyne

We were up against an Ayrshire team in our first round and a good one at that so it was going to be a tough ask.

We kicked off at 2.04pm for the first 30 minutes I thought we matched them in play but with them having the better of the chance.

32 min’s they break down our right wing, put in a good cross and they slot it home to make 1-0 to the home side. From this point on they had grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and pressed us back.

41 min’s they break down our right wing again this time Kevin intercepts the cross and puts it out for a corner.  While we were still arguing amongst our self’s and not concentrating on the game they took the corner and made it 2-0.

Half Time

At half time Mark gave his team talk and ironed some problems. It worked because we had a better approach to the game, well, at least for twenty minutes it did.

In the second half for the first 20 minutes we were much more positive and took the game to them and it was in this spell that we managed to pull it back to 2-1 through a long punt from Kane. Their keeper came out and totally fluffed his attempt at clearing the ball John Moran who had not long came on for Kevin nicked in and had an easy walk into the net.

They came straight back at us to restore their two goal advantage to make it 3-1.

They went on to win the game handsomely with a final score of 6-1 which was well deserved in the end, so good luck to them in the next round. Before the game was done Spoony got a yellow card for verbal.

The team today was:-Steven Kane, Gary Hyndman, Craig Larkin, Kevin McMahon, Stuart Wutherspoon, Grant McEnhill, Chris Crichton, Brian McLuskey, Robert Clark, Gary McLeod and Karl Flynn.

Used subs were:-John Moran, Stuart Piggot and Steven Trainer.
